The Science Place's Hall of Science, opened June 15, 1996, is a collection of architectural as well as cinematic marvels. The entrance to the IMAX ® theater is flanked by two "floating staircases" rising above a black terrazzo rendering of the solar system displayed throughout the theater lobby. The rendering of the solar system includes eleven constellations, as well as a movable marker indicating constellations visible in the night sky. The constellations are beautifully depicted with flecks of mother-of-pearl and other colorful gemstones.

The Little Urban Farm vividly illustrates to children and families the crucial role that farms play in all our lives. Children explore and learm about the earth’s food resources and the task of bringing those resources to the tables of American families. The Farm features everything from seeding to harvesting, from feeding to milking, and focuses on the importance of providing good stewardship of the earth's natural resources.

The Science Place has always been a fantastic destination for school groups and families. From our Little Urban Farm and KidsPlace to our "shocking" Electric Theater Show and planetarium programs, our science center holds something for everyone. The Dental, Medical, and Hands-on-Physics galleries have wonders around every corner. Plus, the TI Founders IMAX ® theater, opened in 1996, shows immersive educational films -- and with its 79-foot domed screen, it's a thrilling experience!
