Galleri Urbane is pleased to introduce newly-represented artist Dennis Koch in his first solo exhibition with the gallery. Primarily known for his large-scale colored pencil drawings, TIME/LIFE shifts focus to Kochs ongoing series of Cutouts. The body of work is comprised from dozens of vintage Life magazines, published in the 1960s and early 70s, whose covers have been meticulously excavated by hand to unveil images below. The resulting objects feature unforeseen correlations between the original cover stories and the culture-influencing contents within, ranging from the light and humorous to the ominous and critical. Through this exercise, Koch draws parallels between the contemporary cultural climate and the equally turbulent events of the 60s and 70s to complicate the idea of a linear advancement of time.

DALLAS, TX - Curated by Dallas-based photographer Chris Evans, Remote Sensing, is a group exhibition of painting, sculpture, and video that explores the genre of landscape as a way of ordering and building our understanding of the world. Landscapes dont show us anything, in particular; instead, they create a window or vantage point to be reconciled. The works in the exhibition stake claim to their vista and together construct a way to see the world around us, positing that the world we look out on is embedded with history and culture that is not always
explicitly visible.

All pets under 100 lbs are welcome to attend, and they must be on a leash or in a carrier.

More about the Santaland experience:
While no cell phones or outside cameras are allowed when families are in Santas study, there are several Instagram worthy experiences as you move through the experience, whether families are fond of fir tree forests, positively pumped about polar bears or crazy about candy canes. Promotional photo packages with Santa start at $20 through November 27, when the base price will be $25.

Within the experience, Galleria Dallas has moved Santa himself to a private, custom created study so that anxious children no longer have others watching their moment with the head elf. After a private photo opportunity with Santa, guests continue through gorgeous walk through moments until arriving at the image preview area. There is a special area for kids to write a thank you note to Santa with a quaint North Pole mailbox on site, while parents use the digital stations to select and edit any photos they like.
